Saint Margaret of Cortona
0516 Penitent (Third Order)
Entrance Antiphon [ Ps 77:10-11 ]
Has God forgotten pity? Does he in his anger withhold his compassion? This is my sorrow that the right hand of the Most High is changed, alleluia.
Collect
Heavenly Father, you take no pleasure in the death of the sinner but rather in the sinner’s conversion that he may live. As you mercifully drew your servant Margaret from the path of damnation to the way of salvation, grant that we may serve you with pure hearts, free from the bondage of sin. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Prayer over the Offerings
Lord, through the prayers of Saint Margaret may the sacrifice of reconciliation we offer you gain for us the full pardon we desire. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Communion Antiphon [ Rm 5:20-21 ]
Despite the increase of sin, grace has far surpassed it. As sin reigned through death may grace reign by way of justice leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, alleluia.
Prayer after Communion
Almighty God, may the offering of the divine mystery on this feast day of Saint Margaret enlighten and inflame us that we may ever burn with holy desires and abound in good works. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
